Australian renewable energy developer WestWind is seeking approval from the Golden Plains Shire Council and the state government to build the 800 MW Golden Plains wind farm in Victoria.
The Border Mail reports that the project, if it goes ahead, will comprise of between 200 and 240 turbines located 40 km south of Ballarat.
“(The project has) been in the pipeline for a long time and we’ve been monitoring wind in the Golden Plains area for years now,” Ricci said. “Now we have a supportive state government in particular we think it’s the right time to move forward,” said WestWind communications and stakeholder engagement manager Paige Ricci.
