The Dow Chemical Company is planning to spend USD4 bn in further expansions in the Houston area, at its Michigan headquarters and in Europe.
The company plans to expand the capacity of its new TX-9 ethylene cracker through the addition of two furnaces, bringing the facility’s total ethylene capacity to 2 mn tonnes and making the TX-9 cracker the largest ethylene facility in the world.
Dow also plans to develop the a 600,000 tonne capacity polyethylene unit on the US Gulf Coast, along with a a world-scale 450,000 tonne polyolefins facility in Europe.
Dow will invest an additional USD400 mn to support the transformation of its Midland, Michigan manufacturing operations.
